What We Do
DEEP CARBON SHIFT designs, tests, and scales innovative educational models that support the transition towards climate-neutral, resilient, and inclusive cities. The project develops new Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training (VET) curricula that integrate deep tech knowledge, green and circular economy principles, and entrepreneurial competences, directly responding to real urban challenges and labour market needs. By connecting education with industry, research, and public authorities, the alliance ensures that learning outcomes translate into tangible societal and environmental impact.
Our Methodology
The project adopts a transdisciplinary, practice-based, and co-creative methodology. Curricula are co-designed with learners, educators, SMEs, and public-sector actors through participatory processes, ensuring relevance, inclusivity, and applicability. Learning activities are grounded in real-world urban case studies, where learners develop and test solutions using deep tech tools such as digital twins, AI-driven systems, IoT, and data analytics, while simultaneously building green, digital, resilience, and entrepreneurial skills.
From Education to Impact
DEEP CARBON SHIFT follows a progressive and systemic approach, moving from curricula co-creation to testing, validation, and replication. This is reinforced through incubation, acceleration, and business exchange mechanisms, as well as through local and international observatories that enable feedback, knowledge exchange, and scalability. By embedding continuous evaluation and cross-sector collaboration, the methodology ensures long-term sustainability and positions education as a strategic driver of urban decarbonisation and innovation in Europe.
