The DEEP CARBON SHIFT project was officially launched in November 2025 with an online kick-off meeting bringing together all project partners from across Europe. As an Erasmus+ Alliances for Innovation initiative, the project aims to strengthen the role of education in accelerating the transition towards climate-neutral cities through the integration of deep technologies, sustainability and entrepreneurial innovation.

During the meeting, consortium partners introduced their organisations, discussed the strategic objectives of the project and outlined the roadmap for the first phase of activities. The kick-off meeting also provided an opportunity to align the partners around the project’s vision of connecting education, innovation ecosystems and urban stakeholders in order to address the complex challenges of urban decarbonisation.

The discussion focused on the development of new educational programmes, collaborative innovation activities and the creation of an ecosystem linking universities, vocational education providers, research organisations, companies and cities.

The online kick-off meeting marked the beginning of a three-year collaborative journey in which partners will work together to develop innovative learning models and technological approaches capable of supporting sustainable urban transformation across Europe.

Through this alliance, DEEP CARBON SHIFT seeks to place ideas, knowledge and innovation in motion to support the transition towards climate-neutral and resilient cities.
